Sweater Strings

Fidgeting with the strings from the sweater you’ve worn too much

.

You never told me

But I knew you were afraid the strings from your sweater would break the link that kept its hood together

.

You never told me

But I knew you were afraid forever

And baby I can still tell you: “That isn’t something good”

.

Did you notice you’ve been pulling too hard onto the strings

with your strong anguish

So everything that once was “one” and once was “ours” went away

.

Bite your tongue and your lips until you can feel them bleeding

Scream because you feel your deep, deep wounds hurtin’

and burnin’ through your torn jeans

.

No I’m not showing you any case of pity;

That’s something I’m never looking for again

.

Stiletto knives

Dry bottles of wine

Stiletto knives

Dry bottles of wine;

You’re trying to drink away your pain

And I’m only hoping your faded feelings for me wouldn’t come back again

Yes, I hope you rather prefer to let yourself drown in a sea full of blood

so you don’t have to see my face once more staring at you in the mirror

And I hope whenever you’re in the dark

You see my shadow

And your face whitens in horror

And You’ll think I’m a lost maniac

.

You pull your hair out of your scalp in frustration

Can’t you see you’re the one that broke the strings from our relationship?
